A powerful bomb was exploded on 21 October, in the heart of Imphal, capital city of Manipur. It resulted to many innocent people dead and injured numerous people. The underground group KCP (MC) boldly claimed responsible for it. It is a Thankless Task without a Commonsense! There was no reason to kill human beings.
We, ifop already condemned it as Crime against Humanity. In retaliation the Indian Security Forces killed 8 Meetei youths on 23 October, charging the victims as insurgents. We condemned this killing also as an act of Genocide on the ground that the people of Manipur have been witnessing hundreds of fake encounters particularly attempted only to the Meetei community. In a short period, on 5 November, the Ibobi Ministry appointed the Chief Secretary of Manipur to represent Government of Manipur as designated officer for initiating the preliminary Peace Talks as offered by the said bogus underground outfit KCP (MC). We suspect all these things whether a Game Plan of a certain group of irresponsible people.
We, ifop, do not welcome such a Peace Proposal or Process without clarity from the Government about a WHITE PAPER, which is a requirement for any Peace Move; though to bring peace in Manipur is a long cherished dream of the people of Manipur. At the same time many unsuccessful peace talks, more or less than this happened in the past in the north east region. The reason is, the so called peace talks were not transparent and credible on both sides. The well known Law Professor Dr. Naorem Sanajaoba already opined that the proposed peace talk was not feasible. The KCP (MC) is not the right organization to take the responsibility of a peace deal in Manipur and for Manipur.
There are the other bigger organizations, like RPF, PREPAK, UNLF and KYKL, which are still very active and without them any peace talk would end in smoke. We will encourage and support any kind of Peace Deal but in prior of it, we, ifop, demand a WHITE PAPER. We strongly oppose against such kind of politics as the dirtiest thing on earth, where there have been bloodshed for more than three decades. Frankly speaking the efforts of the Government of Manipur to resolve the conflict is too poisonous. Now the time has come to consider the root cause of the death of several innocent victims of the conflict.
The ifop confirmed Manipur Government is a diffident government for a Political Solution, so we appeal to them to handover the issue directly to the Government of India.
